KAPPO, Madrid

¡No importa!.

¡Seguro!

KAPPO, Madrid

What a delight! It’s such a fantastic feeling to discover a restaurant that you like, that lives up to your expectations, and that you’re already dying to go back to!

Sushi bar. Quality products and originality. Among the best Japanese restaurants in Madrid.

Kappo’s appeal doesn’t come from the space itself. On the contrary. Diners are faced with a somber, almost cold industrial space that lacks in both music and warmth. But none of this matters! The real adventure is the food… I would strongly recommend sitting at the bar, where everything happens, where you can directly witness the festival that chef Mario Payán (formerly of Kabuki) prepares at every mealtime.

There is no menu, only a prix fixeselection (65€) that’s a true delight for experts and novices in the art of Japanese cuisine.

The feast begins with a delicious cauliflower cream and a bluefin tuna tartare whose color in the photo should be enough to give you an idea of how it tastes. The kokotxagives way to the festival of niguiris: mackerel, shrimp and pickled pepper, red mullet, eel, roe… etc. a course that continues without respite, letting you savor the essence of the excellent-quality fish, sliced with exquisite precision and simplicity… absolutely incredible! The explosion of flavors is rounded off with a hot Udon broth and a crunchy and light temaki, completing this singular experience.

A not-to-be-missed Japanese restaurant in the Spanish capital where quality, good service, enjoyment and the opportunity to taste first-hand how the combination of carefully prepared rice (slightly reddish in tone from the seasoning they use) and fish yields a truly excellent mouthful.

Ideal for enjoying as a couple, for discovering and witnessing the wonderful culinary moment that Madrid is currently undergoing, and how much Japanese cuisine still has to offer. This will be one of our favorites, no doubt about it!
