Recently opened, the city’s new restaurant specializing in Japanese food is very promising. Helmed by the media darlings and sisters Rebeka and Ruth Jiménez, the space is warm and very pleasant, done up in wood tones with intimate lighting and an appetite-inducing ambience.

The ingredients are top-notch and presented in very interesting combinations. The toro (tuna) is of excellent quality, and the chef’s proposals are well-worth taking into account. The selection of niguiris is spot on, and one culinary discovery is without a doubt the wagyu suriyaki: delicious beef cooked in a stew with an egg yolk for dipping… absolutely amazing! My only critique is that the spicy tuna could be improved upon (spicy things should have a little rock n’ roll!).

Interesting desserts (the matcha mousse is a good choice) and a limited but complete wine list. The hosts of Ha-Ha (“mother” in Japanese) also manage to make the experience reflect their dedication to risk-taking, emotion and a desire to strengthen Barcelona’s new culinary offerings.

Best of luck to these TV-star entrepreneurs who, as of now, will also be talked about in culinary circles.
