Xerta Restaurant. Located in the Hotel Ohla on calle Corsega, this restaurant takes the seafaring and culinary tradition of this area of Tarragona and turns it into a menu filled with good gastronomic choices and traditional cooking techniques. I tried the caixetes– an intensely flavored mollusk that I had never tried before – and the angulas (elvers) with kokotxas(hake cheeks) and truffled duck egg were impeccable. The dessert in the form of a dish sponge with drops of detergent on it was original. Otherwise, not a lot of innovation, but still good dishes in a restaurant that, while not surprising, is key to the city’s seafood selection.
