Guided and counseled by our beloved Juanjo (La Tasquita de Enfrente), we reserved a table at this small and bustling restaurant, the essence of the most authentic Parisian gastronomic experience.
Small restaurant with lots of charm and menu written on a blackboard
Located in Belleville, just slightly outside the city center, this small establishment boasts only eight, tightly-placed tables and a cuisine that is authentically traditional and French. The daily specials are announced on a chalkboard and the chef and owner, an Argentinean, takes great pains to change the selection daily and offer a set menu for 19€ that is both appropriate and very personal
For this dinner we chose the fresh foie, seared and served on a bed of lentils and vegetables (a curious yet delicious combination), an authentic fish soup with vegetables, and a stuffed puff pastry. As our main dishes, the lamb, the leg of kid, and a beef dish – all of them absolutely unbeatable. Tender, juicy, homemade, perfectly done. A clear reflection of the skill of the owners. The wine menu – completely biodynamic – featured an interesting and extensive selection for pairing with the meal. The apple tart tatîn and the tiramisu were the perfect finish for this complete, flavorful and authentic meal, which was also extremely well priced.
Very recommendable for weekend jaunts… I recommend writing it down as a “secret” place to visit, eat well and not tell too many people about – at the risk of it losing its almost clandestine character.
