En pleno barrio de la Ópera de París, en el magnífico hotel Intercontinental se encuentra Café de la Paix. Un céntrico y clásico lugar dónde tomar un café se convierte en un deporte y relajarse en su terraza en una obligación. El restaurante ofrece comida francesa de buena calidad y con un servicio excelente. Magnífico el foie gras de canard confit y estupendo el pâté en croûte, platos absoluta y deliciosamente galos. El tartar de buey resulta magnífico, acompañado con las imprescindibles patatas (en este caso en forma de rejilla). Correcto el lenguado y jugosa la blanqueta de pollo. Todo a un precio muy “a la francesa”, con el añadido de comer en uno de los centros neurálgicos de la ciudad y en una de sus terrazas más emblemáticas.

No faltan las ostras, las bandejas de marisco, los platos a cualquier hora del día y los cafés en todas sus variedades. Un buen lugar dónde conocer la gastronomía francesa de base, con cocina de temporada y buen producto.
Uno de los encantos de París es sentarse en sus terrazas y locales llenos de historia. Éste en concreto guarda recuerdos en sus rincones desde 1862, cuando fue inaugurado por la Emperatriz Eugenia. El hotel se erige imponente en una de las zonas más turísticas y visitadas de París. Sólo una recomendación final. Una copa de champagne en la terraza al iniciar la noche, con la vista de la Ópera de París iluminada. No hay mejor recuerdo de París que esos pequeños momentos…

In the heart of Paris’s Opera district, in the magnificent Intercontinental Hotel, is the Café de la Paix, a central and classic place where having a coffee can turn into a sport and relaxing on the terrace is an obligation. The restaurant offers good quality French cuisine and excellent service. The foie gras with canard confit is magnificent and the pâté en croûte is wonderful — both of them absolutely and deliciously French. The beef tartare is magnificent, accompanied by the obligatory potatoes (in this case waffled). The sole is correct and the chicken blanquette juicy. It all comes at a “very French” price, with the added bonus of dining in one of the city’s neurological centers and on one of its most emblematic terraces.

There are oysters as well, seafood platters, and dishes at any time of day, as well as coffee in all its forms. A good place where you can get to know fundamental French gastronomy, with seasonal cuisine and good raw products.
One of the charms of Paris is to sit on its terraces and in its restaurants — brimming with history. This one in particular has been gathering memories in its corners since 1862, when it was inaugurated by the Empress Eugénie. The hotel is an imposing building in one of the most touristy and visited areas of Paris. Just one final recommendation: a glass of Champagne on the terrace to start your night with the view of the Paris Opera all lit up. There are no better memories of Paris than small moments like these.
