Debo reconocer que cualquier propuesta que suponga maridar platillos y tapas con cócteles ya me emociona. Así de inicio. Me emocionó así la apertura y estoy viendo la consolidación de The Alchemix @the_alchemix en Barcelona (al que volveremos pronto para constatar esa evolución) y en Madrid visitamos hace un tiempo un lugar que, con estética totalmente neoyorkina y ánimo de ocupar un espacio aún difícilmente conseguible en nuestro país, pretende conseguir el mismo efecto.

West 42 está en la calle Lagasca de Madrid, en una zona que permite la aportación más genuinamente “yanki» en la concepción de la propuesta y que ofrece una auténtica combinación de cocina nikkei, india, oriental y mediterránea en pequeños platos llenos de sabor y originalidad.
Con cocina ininterrumpida, brunch los fines de semana, repostería casera y estética que asemeja los rascacielos de Manhattan en sus cristales, el West propone maridar la cocina fusión que plantea con cócteles personalizados, uno para cada platillo.
Tacos, buns, dumplings, chichen tikka masala, raviolis, lasaña de txangurro…todo tiene cabida en la carta que no olvida la tradicional Cheesecake neoyorkina entre sus postres. El servicio es atentísimo, preparados para atender peticiones y recomendar. Y el ambiente un must en la capital. After work indispensable en la ruta de los que busquen lugares para tomarse algo antes de ir a cenar, tapear tardíamente tras un largo día de trabajo o, simplemente, degustar un buen cóctel en un ambiente desenfadado y con mucho estilo. I must admit that any place that has to do with pairing small dishes and tapas with cocktails gets me excited, even before trying it. I was therefore excited by the opening, and am currently witnessing the popularity of the Alchemix @the_alchemix in Barcelona (we’ll head back soon to check on this evolution ourselves). We’ve also been going to a place in Madrid for a while that, with its totally New York aesthetics and enthusiasm for a concept that’s still difficult to convey in our country, hopes to achieve the same thing.

West 42 is located on Lagasca street in Madrid, in an area that permits a more genuinely “Yankee” contribution in the proposal’s conceptualization, offering an authentic combination of Japanese, Indian, Asian and Mediterranean cuisine in the form of small dishes brimming with flavor and originality.
Serving food all day, brunch on weekends and homemade desserts — with a style that is reminiscent of the skyscrapers of Manhattan in its windows — the West proposes pairing its menu of fusion food with personalized cocktails, one for each dish.
Tacos, buns, dumplings, chicken tikka masala, ravioli, txangurro lasaña… together on a menu that saves room for traditional New York cheesecake as one of its desserts. The service is very attentive, ready to respond to requests and to make recommendations. And the ambience is a mustin the capital. An indispensible stop for an after work drink for those in search of a good place for a before-dinner cocktail, for some late tapas after a long day at the office or, simply, for enjoying a good cocktail in a casual and very stylish atmosphere.
